Welcome to the satellite images gallery landing page.
Every satellite that takes any form of an image has to transmit it back to Earth at some point. Some satellites, especially those for Earth-observing and weather monitoring, often employ free to receive, unencrypted radio broadcasts (downlinks) that anyone with the correct hardware (and sometimes in a correct location) can receive. This gallery aims to present samples of some of the satellite imagery received by amateurs. Every image included here has been downloaded over radio from a satellite directly, with no other hardware being between the spacecraft itself and the receiver antenna on the ground.
The image you see on this page has been randomly picked from the gallery, which you can access in its entirety using the link below. While the images in the gallery use lossy webp compression, the total file size can still be a concern for some people with data caps. Instead of sharing a direct link to the gallery, please link this page instead.
